Washington WAVE Jitney Opens New Communication Sites and Hiring
The Washington WAVE jitney service has been successfully expanding its services along the Washington Avenue corridor. The success of the jitney service has also helped to keep restaurant and bar traffic off residential streets and reduced parking needs. Lauren M. Residents of Magnolia Grove are eligible to ride The Washington WAVE for $5.00 per night.
According to the website, The Washington Wave, Houston’s first official "jitney" service in 15 years, is a shared shuttle service operating on a fixed route for a fixed rate. Currently the Wave travels within the Washington Avenue District.
The Wave makes mobility between popular cultural, entertainment, residential and business destinations within the Washington Avenue District easy, affordable, and fun with a growing fleet of high quality buses and centralized free parking at the southwest corner of Houston Avenue & Memorial Avenue in Lot H. The Waves serve to address the area's immediate and critical mobility needs, improve quality of life for residents, business owners, and visiting guests, and assist in the sustainability of the areas growth and success.
The Wave is on a mission to change Houstonian’s perception of public transportation by promoting the ease of movement, encouraging transit use and enhancing existing public transportation systems, while also reducing congestion and improving public safety.
