Representative from
Councilman Edward Gonzalez' Office Attend September Civic
Association Meeting
As a result of a collection of neighborhood issues sent to the Mayor's
Office and City Councilman Edward Gonzalez, a representative from Mr. Gonzalez'
attended the Magnolia Grove Civic Association meeting on
September 8th. Tonya Makana, who is the Assistant Chief of Staff for Mr.
Gonzalez, addressed issues brought to the attention of the city and
included items such as: traffic and parking as a result of the club
traffic on Washington; parking issues at Leverkuhn and Feagan; traffic
concerns at the intersection of Waugh Dr. and Feagan, as well as Jackson
Hill and Washington Streets; weekly, monthly, and recycling trash
issues; and other issues that were brought up during the meeting. Ms.
Makana insured those present at the meeting that Mr. Gonzales' office is
concerned and willing to work with our group to address these issues.
She offered her contact information for the neighborhood and invited
residents to contact her directly on issues and concerns. However, she
recommended that before you contact her, you issue a service request via
the 311 Service Center first so that there is official documentation of
your issue on record with the city. Contact Ms. Makana directly by
calling 832-393-3226. Mr. Makana also updated the group on opportunities
to meet in front of City Council. She says that on Tuesday afternoons at
901 Bagby Street, between 2:00 and 5:00 PM. To be scheduled to speak in
front of the Mayor and the Council, you must call the City Secretary
prior to 5:00 PM on the previous Friday at 832-393-1100.
